7 Must-Have Free WordPress Plugins

Other the years, I have learned: there’s a plugin for everything. Like seriously – most challenges in WordPress can be solved with a plugin. Plugins are easier to install and download. Here are some of my favorites!

Delightful Downloads

Delightful Downloads makes keeping track of your downloads easy and countable, and I like it much better than just linking to Dropbox, Google Docs, or the WordPress file. You simply input the code where you want the “Download now” box to be.

Review Disclaimer

This is a great plugin for adding a quick disclosure to posts with an affiliate warning, health/liability warning, or review warning.

Term Management Tools

I honestly don’t know where I’d be without Term Management Tools. It allows you to make bulk edits on categories and tags! You can merge, set parents, delete, etc. – all within a click of a button.

Broken Link Checker

With rebrands, deleting, and life, broken links are bound to happen, but can have a negative effect on your site. This plugin alerts you to broken links, allowing you to fix them!

Comment Reply Notification

After trying several comment reply plugins, this one was ultimately my favorite, since it is quick to set up and is reliable.

WP Smush

With the rise of Pinterest, images are a way to visually communicate. However, they can take a long time to load. WP Smush compresses images so they can load faster for your readers.

SEO Redirection

I needed this post especially when I had just switched from Blogger, so I could just direct people to /thispost instead of /2015-05-20-this-post-here.html.

PAID PLUGINS

Social Warfare Tools

Social Warfare does everything from SEO to social media sharing settings to social media buttons. This one is paid, at $24 a year.
